Brice Laurent’s research is devoted to the relationship between innovation and democracy. It is based on theoretical approaches and empirical methods of social studies of science and technology. Brice Laurent has studied emerging technologies and the democratic issues they raise (Democratic Experiments. Problematizing nanotechnology and democracy in Europe and the United States, MIT Press, 2017) as well as the political stakes of technico-regulatory devices (Labelling the economy. Quality and value in contemporay markets, with Alexandre Mallard (ed.), Palgrave, 2020; European Objects. The troubled dreams of harmonization, MIT Press, 2021). Brice Laurent is involved in several research projects on experimental forms of technological innovation and public policy, as well as on mineral resource controversies.
