Makiko Matsuo is currently serving as Project Associate Professor at the Graduate School of Public Policy, the University of Tokyo, where she engages in teaching and research in the Science Technology and Innovation Governance Education and Research Program (STIG). She received her Doctor of Philosophy of International Studies from the Graduate School of Frontier Sciences, the University of Tokyo in March 2016. Her areas of concern are interdisciplinary in nature and covers such issues as Risk Governance, Risk Regulation, Global Health Issues, Food Safety, Interface Issues between Science and Politics, Technology Assessment (TA), International Standards Setting Process, International Harmonization, and Sustainability.
